MyHosting – Domain Renewal – Scam

Some customers have contacted us to say they are receiving emails with a title “Failed to renew your domain name …” and that they need to click on a MyHostingIreland link to renew

THIS IS A SCAM – DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK

This is a classic phishing scam where the scammer attempts to trick a domain owners into renewing their domain on a fake website. There are a few tell tale giveaways to indicate this is a scam which are outlined in yellow

• Email Address – incorrect address not from the genuine service provider
• Greeting – doesnt give the customers name
• Grammer – incorrect use of words or missed capitalisation
• Urgency – a general sense of panic conveyed in the message

Our Advice – If in doubt contact your company directly via the usual means that you always use. Make other employees aware of this scam and then delete the email or block the sender address.
