Website Security Update for Jascom Clients

As part of our ongoing efforts to improve website security, Jascom Ltd will be reducing the number of Administrator-level logins on client websites from April 2026.

This change applies to websites covered by our Website Maintenance Service and is designed to protect client websites from hacking attempts, accidental technical changes and password-related security risks.

Administrator accounts have full control over a website’s technical settings, plugins and security configuration. Because of this, they are often the first accounts targeted during cyber-attacks.

To improve security, most client logins will now be assigned Editor access instead of Administrator access.

Editor access still allows you to manage your website content as normal, including:

  • Updating pages and blog posts
  • Uploading images and media
  • Editing text and content
  • Managing articles and updates

However, Editor access prevents changes to critical technical settings such as plugins, themes and security configurations that could affect the operation of the website.

This approach follows industry best practice for professionally managed websites and helps ensure your website remains secure, stable and running smoothly.

If you ever require Administrator access for a specific task, simply contact the Jascom support team and we will be happy to assist.

Why We Are Downgrading Administrator Logins

Improved Website Security

Administrator accounts have full control of a website, making them a prime target for hackers. Reducing the number of Admin accounts significantly lowers potential security risks.

Protection Against Accidental Changes

Administrator users can change critical settings including plugins, themes and system configuration. Editor access allows normal content updates while preventing changes that could accidentally break the website.

Reduced Impact of Stolen Passwords

If login credentials are compromised through phishing attacks or password reuse, an Editor account cannot install plugins, modify site security or take control of the website.

Better Website Stability

Limiting admin-level changes helps maintain consistent website configurations, reducing the risk of conflicts, downtime or unexpected errors.

Industry Best Practice

Professional hosting and managed website providers increasingly restrict Administrator access to trained technical users. This approach improves website security, performance and long-term reliability.
