a domain name ? A domain name is an individual name by which customers can enter to get to your website. This name can contain letters, numbers and some other alphanumeric characters such as hyphens. What is the difference in .com or .ie ? There is a fundamental difference between the .com and .ie extensions which basically comes down to a legal issue. Anyone, anywhere in the world can register a dot com domain by giving a minimum amount of information. But to register a dot ie domain you must be based in Ireland and have a relationship with the domain name. For example someone in the US couldn't register www.aerlingus.ie as they wouldn't be able to provide documentation to prove a legitimate business link with this Irish company. Irish domains are usually more expensive than .com also. |
